DEBATE AUDIO: 25th Senate and 74th Assembly Races

Candidates in two contested political races debated in Mercer this month.  

The debate is between candidates for the 25th Senate District, Republican Dane Deutsch of Rice Lake and Democrat Janet Bewley of Ashland.

It also features candidates for the 74th Assembly Seat, Democrat Beth Meyers of Bayfield and Republican Jamie Francis of Hurley. 

The debate was organized by the Iron County Citizens Forum and the Mercer Public Library.  Audience members submitted questions which were read by the moderator, Will Andresen from Iron County UW Extension.

The candidates were allowed one minute answers for each question, with the option of a one minute rebuttal, and candidates rotated who answered first.

Each of the four candidate began with two minutes of opening comment.  By random selection, the first statement you’ll hear will be from Republican candidate for the 25th Senate District Dane Deutsch.
