Replacing the steam boiler and other energy conservation measures at Lakeland Union High School could save the district over $66,000 each year, according to a consultant for Schneider Electric of Milwaukee.
Scott Mason met with the budget committee Wednesday to review a nearly 50-page report on suggested measures, from replacing the aging boiler to updating electrical panels and plugging air leaks.
Those costs have not been determined yet. The district spends over $330,000 annually for electricity and natural gas bills, as well as for associated maintenance.
The energy management firm’s rep says the district could save at least $1.7 million over a 20-year-period if all recommended measures are made. The district will seek quotes from companies for a more intensive energy savings audit, which will include those costs.
