Body discovered after fire in Antigo

A body has been found after a fire at a home in Antigo.

The Antigo Fire Department was called to a report of smoke coming from a home at 247 South Virginia street at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Heavy smoke and flames were found coming from the home when emergency workers arrived.

While the fire was being put out, a body was found.

The scene was preserved for an investigation.

The family has been notified.

The State of Wisconsin Fire Marshall’s office has been contacted to help with the investigation.
