Several area departments helped with the firefighting effort

The City of Antigo Fire Department was called out just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday to a home in the 500 block of 5th Avenue

The Vilas County Sheriff's Office got a call from the homeowner in the Town of Cloverland at 4:28 a.m. Thursday morning

Each time a building catches fire during this time, a green light will be replaced by a red one

Fire departments across the country respond to an average of 832 home fires each year that begin with decorations.

Red Cross volunteers in the north central Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula region have responded to more than 70 house fires so far this year. They’re bracing for more as the area typically sees about a 20% increase in home fires during the months of November and December.
