"....we've recently started our fall trapping season and especially people who are out trapping coyotes may incidentally trap a wolf. We're asking folks to give us a call and let us put a radio collar on those animals...."
MacFarland says last year they collared six or seven animals. He says this method is more cost effective than in the spring when a much larger effort is needed to collar the elusive animals.
DNR staff will work closely with the participating trappers to determine if the wolf is a good candidate for the agency's monitoring program.
