A Rhinelander company won’t appeal the rejection of a proposed waste transfer facility near the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport.
This year, JBM Howard Companies sought to build the facility near the intersection of Highways 8 and 47 in Rhinelander.
The facility would have been able to handle up to 50 tons of waste daily.
But the Oneida County Planning and Development Committee rejected the plan in August.
The airport strongly opposed the plan, saying the facility could attract birds that would create hazards for airplanes.
This week, we learned JBM Howard Companies won’t attempt to appeal the decision to the Oneida County Board of Adjustment. That likely means the plan is dead.
