A fire early Sunday morning at an apartment complex in Rhinelander displaced 26 residents and sent one person to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The Rhinelander Fire Department says the fire started in a room on the second floor of the Phoenix Villa Apartments on Mason Street in Rhinelander.
It was contained and put out by firefighters.
The department is investigating what caused the fire, but officials believe it was accidental.
One person was transported to Rhinelander Aspirus for smoke inhalation.
The Red Cross and Oneida County Social Services are currently helping residents who have been displaced due to water damage from the apartments’ sprinkler system.
Contractors are hoping all residents will be able to return to their units soon.
Phoenix Villa Apartments is a 28-unit, two-story building designated for seniors older than 62.
