Fire destroyed a home in the Lac du Flambeau area, with two people suffering from smoke inhalation.

The Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police Department says a call came in at 5:14 a.m. Tuesday of a fire at 1688 Thunderbird Lane in the Town of Lac du Flambeau.

The caller said everyone inside had gotten out.

Heavy smoke was seen coming out of the home when emergency workers arrived, and the home was quickly engulfed.

The home was a total loss.

Two of the people who had been in the home were taken to Howard Young Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation.

A third person had minor burns that did not require treatment.

Preliminary investigation showed the fire was likely caused by an electric space heater.

A number of agencies responded to the emergency.
