Access for ATVs in Eagle River took a big step forward at last night’s city council meeting. City council voted to pursue plans for a north-south corridor for ATVs. The corridor would run from Tamarack to Railroad, then crosses to Sherburne, Adams, then Mill road. ATV-er Dick Decker says it’s about time.

“The corridor is the main thing which will give other communities around us the enticement to get on the ball and pretty soon, they’ll all have a corridor and then they’ll have the trails. I don’t see that they have to go all over, but they do have to get from point A to point B, from town to town. That’s what the business will come from.”

Lincoln has passed an ordinance allowing ATVs on its roads, but it is waiting for Eagle River to before it takes action. The North-South corridor will get ATVs through Eagle River. Which other roads will be open to ATVs will be the subject for a formal public hearing February 10th.
