A 25-year-old man is dead after his snowmobile struck a closed metal gate on an unmarked trail in Minocqua, according to Minocqua police.
Police received a report at 2:33 a.m. this morning of a snowmobile crash on South Stone Lake Road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family. Wardens from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are continuing their investigation of the fatality. No other details of the crash are being released at this time.
