Careful Where You Throw The Snow!

en.wikipedia.org

The large amounts of snow around homes and businesses have led to potentially serious problems: damaging electric and gas meters.

Wisconsin Public Service spokesperson Leah Van Zile says people have been taking snow off their roofs or plowing around meters. The impact of the snow has led to other problems...

?

"....please be aware where the gas meter and the electric meter are and you don't drop heavy snow or icycles on the meters or plow snow up against those meters. That can damage the equipment resulting in a gas leak or disruption to your service, either gas or electric service...."

?

One additional problem arises from the newer side-vented furnaces and water heaters. If you push snow up against the natural gas vent, it could cause the appliance to not work right or cause of buildup of carbon monoxide.
