A proposal to build a six-piece display to honor Northland Pines alumni who have served the nation was presented to y the school board last week.

Senior Daniel Evensen designed the project and indicated he envisions would it give the school district a voice for those students who chose to serve in the Marines, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard. “Our current high school was built in 2006 and alumni will be distinguished by their graduating class beginning with the class of 2007,” Evensen said. “There will be a plaque for each branch of service and each plaque will be capable of holding 65 names; eight names from each year for the past 12 years.”

Eagle Manufacturing will create the plaques and Evensen said he would laser engrave, sand, finish, and stain them himself. All will be done on school grounds using school equipment. If given final approval, he expected to unveil the display to the public at the Memorial Day celebration.
