Human Trafficking Program In Wausau

Wausau Police Facebook

The Wausau Police Department and The Women's Community are educating the public on human trafficking.

The talkis being held on Tuesday at Northcentral Technical College from 6 to 8 p.m. It will feature experts from the community to answer questions and concerns regarding human trafficking in our area.

The event serving as a part of Human Trafficking Awareness month and information will be based on the results of a survey that the police department and The Women's Community sent out in 2019.

A big part of the panel discussion will be educating the public.

"Educating the public on what sex trafficking looks like, what our victims are looking like, what type of victims we're seeing, what types of cases we're seeing. And then how I network with other resources to get the victim where they need to go or to streamline those cases into what they are," said Sarah D'Acquisto who is a Victim Resource Officer  with the department.

The event is free, but RSVP is needed if you're planning on attending the event.  You can do that by visiting the Northcentral Technical College website and searching for "human trafficking".
