Ironwood Issues Bottled Water For Infants Notice

Submitted photo

A link to the City of Ironwood release here.

The City of Ironwood is providing bottled water effective immediately to families with infants 12 months and younger until further notice.

That message from officials after the City of Ironwood and health officials found higher than normal levels of manganese from a well supplying city water.

A press release indicates the water at this time is below federal standards for manganese. One well that tested above federal standards for manganese was shut down and it's water removed from the city supply. But the current level of manganese is just below the federal limit so the City of Ironwood is providing bottled water for families with infants under 12 months until further notice.

Residents can pick up the bottled water at the Ironwood Public Safety Office.

The pickup times will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.

High levels of manganese in infants can lead to health problems.

We have a link to the full notice issued by the City of Ironwood here.
