Minocqua Man Sentenced On Child Pornography Charge

A Minocqua man will spend ten years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.  Matthew Kummer, 49, will be on supervised release for an additional 15 years once he gets out.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin announced Kummer pled guilty and was sentenced Thursday in federal court.

Prosecutors say that in October 27, 2019, police executed a search warrant at Kummer’s Minocqua home and seized laptops, hard drives, and storage devices.  Law enforcement analyzed some of these devices and found more than 17-thousand images of child pornography.  They also found videos Kummer had taken of young children in swimsuits at parks, beaches, and amusement parks.

The charge against Kummer resulted from an investigation conducted by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and the Rhinelander, Minocqua, and Woodruff Police Departments.
