Hybrid Learning Plans, New Graduation Requirements Under Northland Pines Proposal

PIXABAY.COM

Hybrid personal learning plans will need to meet at least one of four requirements or be denied under  a proposal that will be on the agenda for the full Northland Pines school board after being discussed last week by the school policy committee.

District administrator Scott Foster indicated the district has to meet the needs of students full time and include students who might be out for quarantine.

“We would ask to board not to allow hybrid learning plans unless at least one of four situations would trigger the hybrid,” Foster said. “These would include a teacher-parent request, any medical reason preventing the student from attending school, an individual educational plan team recommendation, or administration determines there is a necessity.”

The committee directed Foster to place this on the full board agenda.

A new graduation requirement would be senior interview for academic and career planning.  Interviews would be conducted with each student individually in the fall and again in spring.

“Three to four persons would be involved in the process; the parent, a community leader, and two staff,” Foster said. “It would be part of the school day.”

This was approved by the committee to be sent to the full board.
