FORK Starts Tomorrow’s Kids Endowment Fund with $1 Million Goal
One million dollars by 2024, that’s the goal of the Tomorrow’s Kids Endowment Fund. The money will go toward sustaining the Feed Our Rural Kids program.
FORK started in 2019 with the goal of making sure children in Vilas County don’t go hungry.
It’s a feeling Keith Kentula knows all too well.
“I came from a home that struggled to put food on the table. I lost my father as a young boy in a work accident,” said Kentual. “There were six of us at home when that happened. We were involved getting government issued cheese and butter and whatever else we could get from them. So I’m fully aware of what it’s like to want food in your home.
Kentula is now on the board for FORK and helping lead its Capital Campaign.
A $100,000 donation last June helped start the fund. That money along with other donations will be invested to help it grow and sustain FORK for years to come.
“Your involvement can be immediately giving money to this million-dollar campaign or you can figure out if you want to do some sort of family legacy and send some kind of donation or pledge for the future,” said Kentula.
FORK provides food to children in Vilas County through various programs.
It now covers much of the county working with the Northland Pines and Phelps School Districts.
“The childhood need food will always be there for people that are in food insecure homes. The vision for the future would be to continue to expand the programs maybe broader geographically or different programs for different demographics here,” said Kentula.
Tomorrow’s Kids Endowment Fund is a financial planning tool of Feed Our Rural Kids Inc, which is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization.
