Swearingen Beats Bangstad, Holds Assembly Seat

State Assemblyman Rob Swearingen (R-Rhinelander) has been elected to his fifth term.

Swearingen’s race against Democrat Kirk Bangstad made national headlines in the past couple of weeks.

Swearingen said he’s excited to continue to represent the Northwoods.

He told WXPR he’ll be focused on the budget this next term.

“It’ll be a tall order. There’s going to be some things I’m going to be concerned about, especially in terms of school funding at the top of the list, beyond that of course we’ve talked about broad band, there’s are a lot more to go,” said Swearingen.

The 34th Assembly District includes parts of Oneida, Vilas, Forest and Florence counties.

Katie Thoresen is WXPR's News Director/Vice President.
