Blood Drives This Week Seek To Rebound From Tough Winter

Joint Base San Antonio

The availability of blood during a critical need period highlights American Red Cross drives coming up in the region.

Blood representative Marc Sutton says three events are coming to the Northwoods...

"...We're going to have one on Wednesday, May 29 at Elcho High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and that is a drive where you can either visit redcrossblood.org and make an appointment or just walk in. We're also going to be over at Wabeno High School as well that's going to be from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. as well on the 29th. On Thursday, May 30 we're going to be at Lac du Flambeau Elementary School. This is a blood drive the elementary school is putting on for parents, public and staff. We'll be there from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also find it at redcrossblood. org If you live in the Elcho, Wabeno or Lac du Flambeau areas we would love to have you come out and donate...."

Sutton says everyone who donates will receive a $5 Amazon gift card link emailed to them as a thank you from the Red Cross.

Sutton says they had many blood drives canceled during the harsh winter weather. He says those are times when they stockpile blood for the much-higher-use summer time...

"...We're not going into the summer with as much as we normally do. If anybody has the ability to come out and donate in this next week we can surely use it because I know it's going to be a tough summer...."
