A word of caution as you head to the airport this Thanksgiving holiday: arrive early.
Thanksgiving traditionally is one of the busiest travel times of the year. At the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport, Director Joe Brauer says there will be more people at the airport so arrive an hour and 15 minutes before your departure time. He also says don't assume you can get on...
"....make sure you have seat assignments. A lot of times when the flights are full they don't always have seat assignments. I suggest you call Delta Airlines in advance so when you come to the airport you're not surprised or can't get on because they do overbook the flights...."
Brauer says because there are just two flights out of Rhinelander each day, it could mean waiting awhile before you can get booked into another flight. He says the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport security has gotten high marks for their work, but it does mean arriving earlier so the large number of passengers can get checked far enough ahead of departure.
