Rhinelander High School Career Fair allows students to see local options for building a career

Career fairs are a more common sight at colleges or conference centers. But Thursday, local employers filled the gym at Rhinelander High School.

All students from Freshmen and to Seniors got a chance to visit with 39 different businesses.

“This is our first year having the career fair at Rhinelander High School. We’ve only had Mad Money in the past and we wanted to get all of our students involved so we set this up. Just to get students interested in careers and learn about more opportunities within our community,” Lexi Allen, a school counselor who organized the event.

Mad Money is an event at the high school to learn about handling finances. This year, it was sophomores only.

At Thursday’s career fair there were a wide range of businesses that included everything from Ponsee to Culver’s.

It was also a mix of what employers were offering.

Some were just sharing information about career options students may not have considered before.

Others had applications for students to fill out right there either for part-time employment while they’re still in school or long-term options after they graduate.
