Westlund Walks The 7th Congressional District

Kelly Westlund For Congress

Friday she worked four Fourth of July  parades  located in the 7th Congressional District.  She walked Rhinelander's holiday parade among them.

Democrat Kelly Westlund of Ashland is challenging incumbent Republican Sean Duffy from Weston for a seat in Congress.

Westlund says she's been talking about a variety of issues...

"....the growing gap between the very wealthy and everyone else. We have a lot of folks in this district who work a full-time job to make ends meet or to save for retirement or pay for education, and we've got to do something different. I've been talking quite a bit about protecting Social Security, expanding Medicare to include a public option, making college more affordable and being good stewards of our national resources...."

Westlund was asked how you finance all the issues given the federal government's growing deficit...

".....we know where that deficit came from...two wars(Iraq and Afghanistan) on a 'credit card' without responsible spending from Congress. We've got to make sure that doesn't happen again. I am an advocate of lets raise taxes on the millionaires and billionaires. That way we can generate the revenues that we need to be able to pay for things like improving our infrastructure and paying for education...."

Westlund says she enjoys talking local and national issues with the many different communities within the vast Congressional district, which runs from Superior to Tomah to Wausau to the Northwoods.
