Built on pilings over Lake Minocqua, the Thirsty Whale in Minocqua needs a land anchor to protect its future, the owners have informed the Minocqua town board.
Deanne and Jay Kidd want to buy a small chunk of property between their restaurant and Park Avenue that has been leased from the town since 1984. It’s used mostly for patron parking. If not the full quarter acre, at least the part that the restrooms and kitchen sit on, Deanne Kidd said Tuesday....
“If something happened to us catastrophic, then we could rebuild the place. That’s our main thing. We need to maintain it if something happens. We would like rebuild it or we don’t have a business anymore.”
Supervisors were supportive but want to explore options including continuing the lease agreement. They directed town attorney Greg Harrold to research the issue and report back to the board.
