Construction at a key Rhinelander intersection begins next month as the Department of Transportation gets ready to put in Rhinelander's first roundabout.
The single-lane roundabout is replacing the standard lighted intersection at U.S. 8 and State 47 on the city's west side.
DOT project manager Dan Erva says Musson Brothers has the project and is planning to start construction on June 10...
"...There's three stages for construction. The first stage will be a couple of weeks where we will be doing some paving and widening and installing temporary signals at Boyce and Kemp. Motorists will be encountering flagging operations. From there a detour will go into effect and will be utilizing Boyce and Kemp for the majority of the summer...."
The project is planned to end October 18. Erva says be safe during construction..
"...Drive safely through the work zone and be mindful of changing traffic conditions. We have a project website where people can go to get more information. It is projects.511wi.gov then select the north central region..."
Erva says a pre-construction public meeting is set for May 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rhinelander City Hall.
