With influenza season upon us, the Veterans Administration is offering vets in this area an opportunity to get a flu shot.
Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center spokesperson Brad Nelson outlines the proposal...
"....the big thing now is the VA is providing flu vaccinations for our veterans that are enrolled in VA healthcare. They can request(the shot) at any regularly scheduled appointment they have. They can also go to our free, walk-in flu clinics. And at the Rhinelander VA, walk-in flu clinics will be held each Friday, beginning this Friday, October 20, until November 24...."
The Rhinelander VA Clinic is on West Kemp Street. In addition, the VA has partnered with Walgreens to provide no-cost flu shots to enrolled veterans without filling out VA forms or carrying paper records. Veterans can go to the local Walgreens, tell the pharmacist they receive care at a VA facility, show their identification card or other proof they are in the VA health care system
Nelson says the immunization record will be updated electronically in the VA medical record. He says veterans may call the Medical Center in Iron Mountain for updated VA Flu Shot Clinics throughout the region.
