Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic Gets Expansion Approval

Aspirus

A major addition to the Aspirus Clinic in Rhinelander was approved by the common council Monday night.

The Aspirus proposal had earlier gotten the endorsement of the Planning Commission.

Director of Northern Region Development for Aspirus, Robb Fabich says the public will first see crews moving utilities on the north side of the building, located at the Highway 17 bypass near Stevens Street...

"...Doing some work in what is currently our employee parking lot. We'll be temporarily moving our MRI dock into that area because we need to move it away from where the construction is going to be so we can get footings in. Our ultimate goal is to get footings in by the end of October. Then we can continue construction right through the winter...."

The current facility is 28,000 square feet and the addition will add 22,000 square feet. Fabich says the goal of the expansion is to provide more space for their specialists.

"...We'll have additional exam rooms there for our Wausau-based specialists as well as our Rhinelander-based specialists. We'll be moving our physical therapy department over there and increasing their square footage so they can continue to grow. Our Sleep Study program which is located at our cardiology building in town is going to have their own dedicated space as well..."

He says when the addition is completed they will be doing remodeling in the current clinic space to put in more exam rooms and such. The cost of the addition was not announced.
