VA Medical Center Hosting Online Support Groups

OGJ VA Medical Center

Iron Mountain--Northwoods veterans who would like to talk and gain support in difficult times now have a daily call-in support group available.

The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is offering the support groups, as detailed by Associate Medical Center Director Rebecca Strini....

"It's an opportunity for veterans to gain support during this unprecedented time. It's a way for people to deal with the stress of the current situation. The nice thing is you don't necessarily need to be enrolled in VA healthcare who needs a little support during this time..."

Strini says the wellness and mental health of veterans is a priority. She says many people may be experiencing increased stress as we are all dealing with changes to our regular routines. She says they want veterans and their families to know that mental health providers at the VA Medical Center are exploring creative ways to continue their mission.

Strini says the call can be accessed Monday through Friday 1-2 p.m. The phone number to join the call is 800-767-1750, when prompted enter the code 56125 #.

For more information, call 906-774-3300 X 32541 and ask for Amy Fowler.
