Ruby's Pantry To Return To Rhinelander With COVID-19 Precautions

Ruby's Pantry.org

A local pastor says a food pantry will be held next week in Rhinelander as planned.

Ruby's Pop-Up Food Pantry is set for April 21 at the National Guard Armory on Adams Way from 5:00-6:30 p.m. or until the food runs out.

Pastor Rod Ankrom of Calvary Baptist Church in Rhinelander the need for food doesn't disappear during a crisis. Food pantries are allowed under Gov. Evers emergency order and he says they feel they can safely and effectively meet a need....

"So they're going to have all the safety precautions that we're going to be using during this time of COVID-19 and we will put the groceries into the back of their vehicle. So we are asking that people do take the time to clear out their trunk or backseat because that's where the groceries will be going. The people will not be getting out of their vehicles..."

Pastor Ankrom says a $20 cash donation will result in two laundry baskets with food...

"You will drop that $20 into a bag, so again, no one is touching that money. You will get in line and drive around. It's nice if you have perhaps a couple of laundry baskets or something like that in the back of your vehicle. Have those cleared out and sitting side-by-side and we'll just drop groceries in there for you and you just drive away..."

Ankrom says advance times via Express Track are no longer being taken for the month of April, but previously purchased food bundles will be honored. For more information, call Calvary Baptist Church at 715-362-4792.
