A grant given to the YMCA of the Northwoods has allowed for an improved recreational area for the community. The Wisconsin Public Service Foundation donated $5,000 to the YMCA to install sound baffles. Aquatics Director Melissa Nieman says the change has been significant.
“If you’ve been into our swimming pool before, it’s a lot of open space, and the noise level was really intense we couldn’t hear during our swimming lessons. The big one was communication for our lifeguards; it was really hard for them to hear.”
Nieman says the baffles were a vital investment to improve the communication between the staff and members to maintain a safe environment for the community.
