The Vilas County Public Health Department confirms their fourth case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) in Vilas County.
In a press release Sunday, the health department said the individual is currently in isolation. They’ve investigated how the person may have become infected and have contacted the close contacts of the positive individual. Those close contacts are isolating at this time.
“We continue to work with our local, state and federal partners to deal quickly and effectively when people have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been around people who have been infected with the coronavirus” stated Laurel Dreger, Vilas County Public Health Department Health Officer/Director.
“ We want to make sure our community remains safe and healthy as well as protect the identity of those who have tested positive. Staying at home and physical distancing during essential services are currently our strongest tools against flattening the curve and protecting our communities”, said Dreger.
The health department says people should continue to follow steps to prevent illness and avoid exposure to this virus including:
• Practice social and physical distancing.
• Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water.
• Cover coughs and sneezes.
• Avoid touching your face.
• Stay home when sick.
