State Patrol Plans Aerial Enforcement in Marathon County

Wisconsin State Patrol Website

Drivers who like to go fast need to lay off the speed this weekend along US 51 in Marathon County.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says they will be conducting aerial enforcement on the highway Saturday, with troopers observing drivers from above for signs of speeding or aggressive driving, then relaying information to patrol officers on the ground who will conduct a traffic stop.

This comes about three weeks after Sheriff's officers in nearby Lincoln County reported stopping nine drivers for going 90 MPH or faster on the US 51, including one driver who was going a whopping 134 miles per hour.

Officers say they are publicizing the enforcement effort to encourage voluntary compliance.
