Vilas County Making Space for Second Judge

Wikimedia Commons

With approval of a second judge for Vilas County, the county public property committee looked a several plans for the second courtroom on top of the new addition.

The Samuels Group presented two proposals for the second courtroom that would be about 1,270 square feet. One plan would have the entrance to the judge’s chamber along the east side of the court hearing room with the second plan entering the opposite side.

If on the east side, the witness stand would be to the left of the judge’s bench while the stand would be to the right in the second proposal.

One plan would have public seating or 25 and the other 20. Both plans would have space for wheelchair access both in the public seating area and the witness stand as well as the judge’s chamber and bench.

The committee agreed the first proposal with the judge’s chamber on the east side with public seating for 25 was preferred. There was no cost estimate until present Judge Neal Nielsen, III and the state court system review the proposal and approve, or modify, it.
