Masks Recommended: Most of Northwoods Now Experiencing ‘Substantial’ or ‘High’ COVID Spread

PIXABAY.COM

Masking is now recommended in nearly all counties in the Northwoods, per CDC guidelines.

As of Monday afternoon, Iron County, Michigan and Florence County are the only two in the region in the moderate category.

Oneida, Lincoln, Langlade, Forest, Vilas, Price, and Iron County, Wisconsin are in the substantial category for COVID spread. Gogebic County is in the high category.

That means the CDC recommends you wear a mask when indoors and in public- regardless of vaccination status. This is for everyone two years and older.

If you think you’ve been exposed to COVID-19, you are encouraged to get tested.

For vaccinated people, you should get tested three to five days after exposure.

Unvaccinated people should be tested five to seven days after exposure.

The Oneida County Health Department recommends everyone 12 and older consider getting vaccinated.

It says nearly 400 pediatric deaths have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic.

COVID-19 is now a top ten cause of death for adolescents in the U.S.
