Ahlstrom-Munksjö Finishes Expera Deal-Operations Remain The Same

Ahlstrom Munksjo

A company spokesperson says operations should continue as normal as the Helsinki, Finland firm Ahlstrom?Munksjo has completed an acquisition of Expera Specialty Solutions which has a paper mill in Rhinelander.

The sale price was listed at $615 million.

Expera produces specialty paper products for industrial and technical use, food packaging and processing and pressure-sensitive release liner sectors. Company spokesperson Addie Teeters says it should be business as usual in Rhinelander and the other facilities...

"...As of today we form Ahlstrom?Munksjo's fifth business area. We are referred to as the North America Specialty Solutions business area. Our four Wisconsin plants, including the Rhinelander plant , will operate just as they have before. However, because we've joined this global organization makes us more competitive, just the fact that we're part of a much larger production platform..."

Besides Rhinelander, there are mills in DePere, Mosinee, and Kaukauna. Teeters says the acquisition positions the company for long term growth...

"...The fact we are now joining a much larger public company helps create just more stability and more resources to continue our strength in the marketplace. We are really looking forward to this transition...."

The total workforce in Wisconsin is about 1,900 employees. Ahlstrom?Munksjo currently produces décor paper, filter media, release liners, abrasive backings, nonwovens, electrotechnical paper and other specialty papers
