No Charges Against ‘texting’ Teacher

A Lakeland Union High School teacher cleared of criminal wrongdoing for his social media texting to students has resigned his teaching and coaching positions.

The school board Monday accepted the resignation of Brent Luebke, special education teacher and head football coach.

The school put the Conover man on paid administrative leave after allegations surfaced that he sent inappropriate text messages to four female students, according to District Administrator/Principal Jim Bouché.

Board President Tom Gabert said they will review current policy on social media use by teachers and students to see if it needs tightening up...

“We have policy in place. Now that this issue has come to closure we can look at the details and see if there is a gap or not. The answer is I don’t know if there will be a new policy or not, but we certainly will again look at it.”

Minocqua police referred charges, but Oneida County District Attorney Michael Schiek said the language in the texts did not break any law.
