Wikimedia Commons

The fusion of the children's toy called LEGOs and STEM curriculum come together next month in a UW-Extension class in Rhinelander.

The Wisconsin 4-H science, technology, engineering and math specialist will be at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport to present a hands-on workshop involving LEGO EV3 Robotics. Oneida County 4-H - Youth Development Educator Lynn Feldman says 4-H has been involved in LEGO Robotics program and the workshop is to train adult Youth Leaders.

Participants learn to advance from working with LEGO's to programming robots..

"....it's a nice way for youth to learn about programming, for the youth to learn about programming so it will move on an obstacle course. We had this last summer at the Oneida County Fair. The youth built and obstacle course and had programmed their robots to run it...."

The program helps train youth leaders to guide students in the sessions....

"...One of the hurdles is helping adults understand the program...."

The program is January 23 and registration ends January 18. More information is available by the Oneida County UW-Extension office at 715-365-2750.
