Wisconsin gas prices dip after a month of steep price hikes

Wikimedia Commons

After a month of high prices, Wisconsinites are seeing lower prices at the pump.

According to GasBuddy, fuel prices across the country dropped nine cents last week. The Badger state saw an eleven cent decrease. The cheapest gas in the state coming in at $3.49 and the highest at $4.59.

Those price fluctuations have a lot to do with where you are in the state.

"The price differences we see regionally we see within the state of Wisconsin are a function of how far a region is from fuel distribution terminals," Nick Jarmusz, Director of Public Affairs at AAA, said. "The closer you are to those pipelines the less time that your gas has to be trucked over the road."

While the prices are low now, they may not last. Officials at the National Association of Convenience Stores said prices of crude oil went up seven percent Monday and gas prices will likely follow.
