Gas Prices Lower But Remain Above Statewide Average In Northwoods

maxpixel.net

The good news is gas prices have fallen. The bad news is not as much here as elsewhere. Senior Petroleum analyst for the website gasbuddy.com Patrick DeHaan...

"Gas prices in Rhinelander about $2.43-$2.44. That's down significantly and follows the national average. Not as great as some areas of Milwaukee and Kenosha, some stations there $1.99 a gallon. So prices have come down, but in Rhinelander we're still looking at prices that are about 10 cents per gallon higher than the statewide average of $2.30 a gallon. Still 14 cents lower on average than we saw a year ago..."

The price of oil has plummeted. DeHaan says some stations in southern Wisconsin are advertising fuel at about $2.00 a gallon. Oil prices have dropped $25 a barrel in the last 10 weeks, leading to lower gas prices. But oil producers don't like lower prices...

"..I think we'll see slow declines, at least in Rhinelander for the next couple of weeks, but, OPEC is meeting this week and there's some expectation that they will cut crude oil production to offset the falling price of oil. That is something to watch out for in the months ahead. That could lead to gas prices that slam on the brakes...."

Additionally, an easing of trade tensions with China could result in more use of crude oil, also driving prices up. Appleton and Madison are at $2.30 a gallon and Green Bay is at $2.32
