Gogebic Iron Range businesses, residents and partners are working together to honor Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month by hosting a Pride Picnic in the Park on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 from 1-4 pm. This family-friendly, outdoor event will take place in Ironwood’s new downtown City Square with music, games, artist vendors and more! The picnic will feature local musicians as well as others traveling from Marquette MI, Chicago Il and Washburn WI. The MC and one of the performers of the event will be Ironwood graduate and Northern Michigan University music major, Ethan Puisto. In addition to the public picnic, the weekend will boast live music yoga on Sunday morning, a post-picnic after party at Don & GG’s and a social media campaign for individuals to post how they show their pride on social media platforms Facebook or Instagram with #PrideUP. This marks the third year that Ironwood has officially recognized Pride Month with Mayor Annette Burchell, signing a Declaration of Ironwood LGBTQ+ Pride Month and the first ever public Pride event hosted in Ironwood.
