WORKSHOP: RUNNING FOR LOCAL OFFICE FOR BEGINNERS Forward Three Lakes and the Demmer Memorial Library have invited the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods to moderate an interactive workshop on how to run for local office. Elected officials will also discuss their experiences of serving in office. The free workshop will be offered on Tuesday, November 9th at 6:30 PM in the Three Lakes Town Board Room in the Town of Three Lakes Municipal Offices, 6965 West School Street in Three Lakes. The two part program will begin with learning about the steps needed to successfully get on to a ballot, including potential pitfalls when collecting signatures, addressing concerns about campaign costs and limits, and how to run a successful campaign. The second part of the program will feature a panel of current and former elected officials with open discussion about motivation, interests, and experiences while serving. The workshop is open to all and especially geared towards those interested in running for an elected office or serving in an appointed role or on a committee. There will also be discussion about candidate eligibility to run for office. Pre-registration is requested to assure adequate materials and seats. All are welcome to attend virtually via Zoom. In-person participation will be limited to the first 20 registrants with preference given to those eligible to represent the Three Lakes community.
