Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo and Safari accepting Christmas tree donations

From giraffes and tigers to flamingos and goats, Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo and Safari in Minocqua cares for hundreds of different animals.

Something as simple as your old Christmas tree can help the animals, says education coordinator Kimberlyn Domaszeck.

“We use them in a lot of our animal exhibits. The birds want them, they nest in them. We give them to the goats, goats love to eat them. We put them in a lot of our other animal exhibits as well. Some of our bigger cats, tigers play with them, snow leopards. The elands love them. Big horn sheep, dall sheep, and a lot of other African animals use them as well,” said Domaszeck.

Live trees still need to be green.

They can’t have any lights, tinsel, or any other type of decoration on them.

The zoo will also take artificial trees.

“We use the artificial ones as we change out in our bird exhibits every year,” she said. “We change them out for cleaner trees as soon as they start getting kind of old and everything and put new ones in for the birds.”

Trees can be dropped off at the park Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 2:00.

There’s a sign in the front parking lot.
