Daniel Overbey has been elected as Vilas County Circuit Court Judge.

For the first time, Vilas County will have two judges presiding over cases.

Voters elect Circuit Court judges to serve six-year terms in nonpartisan elections. There is no term limit.

Last year, Vilas County got permission from the state to add a second branch.

Unofficial results show Daniel Overbey won the election with 56% of the votes. He was running against Meg O’Marro.

Overbey will be the Branch II judge.

In an interview before the election, Overbey told WXPR he looked forward to furthering projects he started as Vilas County Court Commissioner.

Current Judge Martha Milanowski will be the Vilas County Circuit Court Judge Branch I. She ran unopposed.

Milanowksi replaced long-time Judge Neal Nielson in November.

Katie Thoresen is WXPR's News Director/Vice President.
