Citizens Police Academy Again Opened By Rhinelander PD

Rhinelander Police Dept.

The Rhinelander Police Department is again offering a chance for 12 participants to see the life of a police officer up close.

The 8th annual Citizen's Police Academy begins March 5 and runs for eight weeks.
As Police Chief Michael Steffes says most participants don't become police officers, but they discover the background an officer has to know to be successful...

"....it gives them an opportunity to see the city of Rhinelander through an officer's eyes and do ride alongs with an officer and see what we do so there can be more community involvement in our police department and they can learn more about our police department  through the ride along and the training they do..."

Officers will teach  about firearms, defensive and arrest tactics, patrol procedures, drug investigations, criminal investigations, and operating while under the influence.  Students will also complete a ride-along with officers..  There's also  a night of training with the Rhinelander Fire Department.

Steffes says go to Rhinelanderpd. com to find out more information.
