For the first time, six Northwoods counties are partnering together in a tourism project. Department of Tourism Joint Effort Marketing  funds have made a $20,540 grant possible for a group of 14 Northwoods museums in an effort called "Passport to Fun".

The grant will help fund advertising and marketing of the project. Wednesday afternoon representatives  gathered for a presentation at Laona.

Sara Connor, Camp 5 Museum and Wisconsin Forestry  Museum Operator...

”I think for Camp 5 it’s a huge program for us. Not only to increase our visitorship, but to find out exactly where all our visitors come from and expand our audience.”

Jeff Anderson, Regional Tourism Specialist of the Wisconsin Department
of Tourism says the money helps everyone involved...

"...The Camp 5 Project is such a tremendous way to leverage the support of local
communities and local initiatives and use state dollars and tourism dollars to help leverage those ideas and give them similar funds to promote the great ideas that they’ve had and support organizations that are participating in this project. So we’re really happy to be here  and be supportive.”

More than 14 participating museums will distribute 4000 passports over the course of the summer in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida and Vilas Counties.

Visitors are encouraged to collect as many stamps on their Family Fun Passport as possible. A  mobile application is also being provided.

To be part of the historic “Sawdust Trail” visitors can register online and see a list of events at FamilyFunPassport.org.
