A State Senator has announced a partnership that will bring American Legacy's "Know Your History" Mobile Truck Exhibit this weekend on a three day tour throughout Wisconsin, including a stop in Lincoln county.
The truck converts to a traveling museum filled with photos, stories, and interactive learning stations that celebrate the African- American experience. The 18-wheel trailer museum focuses on the milestones and newsmakers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The truck contains artifacts, memorabilia, photographs, and art that thematically mirrors American Legacy magazine.
State Senator Lena Taylor of Milwaukee announced the display will stop at the Oak Hill Correctional Facility Friday, Saturday in Milwaukee, then a stop Sunday afternoon at the Lincoln Hills Juvenile Correction Facility from noon until 5 p.m.
Lincoln Hills has been the focal point of an FBI investigation concerning reported abuse within the facility. Judges in Milwaukee and Racine county have said they won't be sending more youthful offenders to the facility because of those problems. A state Corrections official, administrators and employees of the facility have either been let go, resigned or retired because of the reported abuse.
