Crandon Area Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Drug, Animal Abuse Charges

Forest County Sheriff's Department

A 52-year-old Crandon woman pled not guilty Tuesday to charges she helped smuggle some drugs into the Forest County Jail and on 161 counts of animal cruelty.

The Forest County Sheriff's Department, with help from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, seized nearly 40 wolf dogs and some sickly horses from the property of Patricia Kirker on Highway S March 17th.

Nine days before, Kirker also allegedly attempted to smuggle morphine and hydromophone into the Forest County Jail by giving prescriptions to a 22-year-old fellow inmate on a work assignment. The inmate claimed they were for his personal use, not for sale.

Kirker had her bonds reduced to $1,000 for each incident and awaits a status conference on August 1st. She is not allowed to be on the property where the animals she's accused of abusing are being kept.
