The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa held a primary election Tuesday to narrow the number of candidates for tribal council positions.
The top two vote-getters for treasurer are Gloria Cobb and Melinda Young.
For tribal secretary the top two are Jamie-Ann Allen and Beverly LaFarge.
20 persons had registered for tribal council openings. The primary narrowed the field to the top eight: Dee Allen, Jerome Brooks Big John, Charles Burgess, Eric Chapman, Sr. Ruben Santiesteban, Alice Soulier, Charlene Theobald, and George Thompson.
The general election is October 3.
