The state Department of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation into the death of a Lac du Flambeau man missing since late December.
Lac du Flambeau Tribal President Joseph Wildcat, Sr. confirmed the death of 25 year old Wayne Valliere who was last seen December 22. Wildcat said in a prepared statement that they were heartbroken at the loss of one of their tribal members. He asked the public to give the family the space and time they need to grieve.
State investigators would not confirm to WJFW TV the nature of their investigation.
The Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police and the Vilas, Forest, and Iron county sheriff's offices were helping with the investigation.
