Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman has announced he's seeking another term.
Hartman has been sheriff for five years, with 19 years of law enforcement experience in Oneida county and 25 years total. Hartman says he initiated Project Lifesaver which added an additional deputy to the drug unit to combat heroin and methamphetamine. He also says he helped increase the law enforcement presence in the schools and started a program to improve monitoring of sex offenders.
Oneida County Deputy Greg Gardner has also announced he is running for the Sheriff's position in November. He is a 22 year veteran of the department.
Medical Examiner for Oneida and Forest counties, Larry Mathien, has also announced his candidacy for Oneida county sheriff. Mathien was Deputy Medical Examiner in 2003 and full-time Chief Medical Examiner in 2012.
