Oneida and Forest County Medical Examiner and former sheriff candidate Larry Mathein is leaving his paid position effective today.(8/31)
WJFW TV reports county HR Director Lisa Charbarneau sent out a staff memo Thursday announcing the decision.
Mathein confirmed to WJFW his resignation from the Medical Examiner job and said he would have a statement next week.
Supervisor Jack Sorenson told WXPR that he had filed a complaint against Mathein prior to the primary election earlier this month for allegedly campagining for sheriff during work hours in the Oneida County Courthouse.
Mathein was placed on administrative leave one week ago.
Mathein and challenger Greg Gardner were defeated by incumbent Sheriff Grady Hartman in the Republican primary.
